Entry Requirements

• Learners must be 18 years or older.

• Minimum English Level 1 (or B1/ESOL Level 1 equivalent).

• One valid photo ID (passport or driving licence).

• Two proofs of address.

Course Duration

The course is delivered over three (3) days, with a minimum of 23 guided learning hours, including both classroom teaching and distance learning components.

Course Contents

The CCTV Operator qualification consists of three units:

1. Working within the Private Security Industry

This introductory module covers essential topics such as:

• Legal responsibilities

• Health & safety and fire safety

• Emergency procedures

• Effective communication and customer service

2. Working as a CCTV Operator in the Private Security Industry

A detailed understanding of the role, including:

• CCTV codes of practice

• Communication and emergency protocols

• Functions and components of CCTV systems

• Control room health & safety

3. Practical Operation of CCTV Equipment

Hands-on learning that includes:

• Operating CCTV systems

• Monitoring live and recorded footage

• Incident identification and response

• Using CCTV equipment safely and effectively

Assessment and Examination

At the end of the course, learners must complete:

• Two written examinations

• One practical assessment

Passing all assessments is required to obtain the recognised qualification and apply for the SIA CCTV Operator Licence.

SIA Licence Cost

After passing the course, learners must apply to the SIA and pay the £184 licence fee directly to the SIA Home Office.
